Praz de Lys/Sommand is a quiet ski resort amidst spectacular scenery with 24 chairlifts and 60kms of slopes up to 2000m. It has a relaxed atmosphere, which is perfect not only for families and beginners but also for those who are looking for untracked, powdery slopes with loads of room to let their hair down.   On a white out day there are some lovely little restaurants serving hearty tartiflettes with open fireplaces serving a toasty vin chaud. In the summer, this is one of the top spots for walks and hikes and also the best paragliding and hangliding in the area.   Just 40 minutes down the road are the Grand Massif and Portes du Soleil ski regions and in the other direction, Geneva.
